Low-Profile 90° Side-Entry D-Sub Backshells
Side Entry D-Sub Backshells
The D-Sub backshells are designed to provide a 90 degree, right angle, cable exit with minimal extension from the connector where low clearance is necessary and tight enough bend radii cannot be achieved with the full cable. Unlike most 90 degree backshells, the form factor for these is similar to that of an up or down USB or RJ45 connector.
Low Clearance and Orientation Compatibility
The cable is designed to be restrained in the extended entrance so that the individual conductors may provide the tight bend radii required. Male and female connectors are supported and in both "up" and "down" orientations.
Aluminum and Nylon Options
Machined aluminum backshells are available where structural integrity or conductivity is critical and plastic backshells are available as an economical option.
Structure and Cable Shield Termination
The aluminum backshells have a chem film finish for corrosion protection and to preserve conductivity while preventing potential flaking issues. The overlapping features of the design help to align the halves for assembly and improve shielding performance. Shielded heat shrink tubing can provide a 360 deg termination of a cable shield to the backshell.
